Fonterra Waitoa

We are proud to have supplied reinforcing steel for the Fonterra Waitoa Biomass Boiler project, a major step in transitioning New Zealand’s manufacturing sector toward a lower-carbon future.

Developed as part of Fonterra’s decarbonisation programme, the project involved the construction of a new 30MW biomass boiler to replace an existing coal-fired system. This investment significantly reduces the site’s environmental impact, cutting annual emissions by approximately 48,000 tonnes of CO₂ and supporting Fonterra’s broader sustainability targets.

We supplied reinforcing steel across the entire project, including key structures such as the boiler house, fuel storage, fuel reception area, and MCC building. With multiple areas under construction simultaneously, excellent coordination with the site team was essential. Timely deliveries and rapid steel fixing played a critical role in maintaining programme and ensuring seamless progress across all work fronts within a live processing environment.

This project highlights our capability to deliver reinforcing steel for large-scale, technically demanding industrial infrastructure, while supporting sustainable development and long-term resilience across the Waikato region.
